Abstract

 Interpreting the Quran serves various purposes for different scholars, and every commentary aims to achieve these objectives. Here are some examples of possible purposes in the interpretations of books by the following scholars:

1. Quranic Understanding: Exploring a deep understanding of the Quran and explaining its fundamental meanings.

2. Addressing Doubts: Dealing with doubts and objections from hypocrites or non-believers.

3. Elaboration on Legal Rulings: Clarifying and interpreting legal rulings and Sharia laws.

4. Historical and Contextual Insight: Providing insight into the historical context of verses and events.

5. Guidance for Education and Ethics: Highlighting values and ethics that Muslims should learn.

6. Providing Evidence and Proofs: Presenting evidence and proofs from the Quran to attest to the truth of the message of Islam.

7. Guidance for Daily Life: Demonstrating how to apply the Quran in the daily life of an individual.

8. Linguistic and Rhetorical Miracles: Shedding light on the linguistic beauty and rhetorical miracles in the Quran.

9. Guidance for Understanding Creed: Clarifying fundamental doctrinal concepts.

10. Encouraging Reflection and Contemplation: Inviting Muslims to reflect and contemplate on the verses of Allah.

These examples illustrate the diverse purposes of different commentators, with each interpreter combining multiple objectives based on their unique perspectives and requirements.
